I am delighted to to know that the 46th Annual Conference of Maharashtra Chapter of Pathologists: MAPCON 2025, focussed on the theme “Excellence in Diagnosis” is being organised by the Department of Pathology, Vilasrao Deshmukh Government Medical College, Latur, Maharashtra under the leadership of
Dr Umesh S Kanade, Prof & Head, Department of Pathology of the Institute, from the 12th to 14th September 2025.
     This conference, am sure, serves as a dynamic and vibrant platform bringing distinguished pathologists from India and UK together, to share one’s knowledge and expertise. The conference’s agenda, which is both extensive and captivating, promises a diverse range of topics to invigorate every pathologist’s curiosity.
      My heartfelt thanks to all faculty for their commitment to share and inspire residents and pathologists to work and collaborate together to translate into tangible benefits for the society.
      It is a great opportunity, indeed, for all the delegates to make the best out of the well laid out scientific programme for the Pre-conference CME and the Conference proper, participate in the discussions and interact with the speakers to reap the best.

Dear Delegates,
     It is a pleasure and honour to welcome you all, as a Chairperson of Association of Pathologists (Maharashtra Chapter - IAPM) for 46th Annual Conference of Association of Pathologists - MAPCON-2025.
     MAPCON- 2025 [ 12th -14th September 2025] is organised by Department of Pathology, Vilasrao Deshmukh Govt. Medical College, Latur, in collaboration with Association of Pathologists (MC- IAPM).
     The conference aims to provide platform for pathologists, researchers and health care professionals to exchange their ideas, discuss innovative techniques and stay updated on recent developments. This active participation by delegates will enrich their knowledge and improve the patient care.
     I assure you that this will be wonderful event with the greatest speakers delivering talks on various topics that will ensure the overall coverage of the subject. May this scientific meeting bring fruitful and meaningful insights in the teaching of Pathology.
     The deliberations at the Pre-Conference CMEs will provide an opportunity to learn infective, non- infective and neoplastic disorders in daily reporting.
     The comprehensive program of the conference includes P.G quiz, Presidential address, Slide seminar, Raichur paper, Papers/ Posters presentation, Panel discussion and talks by eminent speakers. Paper/ Poster presentation and P.G quiz help the students to learn different skills and adds to their overall development.
     Presidential address will be delivered by Dr. Usha Kini, President of IAPM, on “Trends and Bends in Breast Cytology.” She has a vast experience in cytopathology and histopathology.
     Dr. Anita Borges, Consultant Histopathologist, who is an excellent orator and “Doyen in Pathology”, will explain the “Soft yet Stubborn- The Diagnostic Puzzle of Soft Tissue Tumours. She also has deep insight in the affairs of profession of Pathology.
     Slide seminar is an academic activity which is effectively used to discuss difficult and unusual cases with active participation by faculty.
     Dr. Umesh Kanade, Professor and HOD, the Organizing Chairperson is well known for his organizational skills and passion for Pathology. He and his team have worked sincerely and enthusiastically for making this conference innovative, interesting and unique. I am grateful to Dr. Kanade Sir and his team for their acceptance to host MAPCON-2025 at Latur. On behalf of the association, I extend our full support to the organizing committee and wish them a grand and successful conference.

For the very first time in history, we will host the MAPCON State Chapter for Pathology in our beloved city of Latur, widely recognized as an educational hub of excellence. The innovative educational pattern that Latur embodies has gained acclaim across India, and as the Professor and Head of Pathology at VDGMC Latur, I am thrilled to reflect on our achievements.
     We have successfully organized the first-ever conference on Infectious Diseases in Marathwada region and Oncopathology Workshop focused on microscope learning and the Hematology Conference—all held at PVR Talkies, a groundbreaking venue for medical conferences. The success of these events was made possible by the warm hospitality offered by our dedicated faculties and the resounding appreciation from our esteemed guests. It is this spirit of collaboration and support that inspires us to elevate MAPCON 2025 to new heights.
